Harry Potter : a great success

 

The seven novels of Harry Potter were written by J.K. Rowling. She wrote the first novel, «  Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone », in 1997. It' the story of a wizard in being, called Harry Potter with his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, in the sorcery school, Poudlard. The main plot is the confrontation between Harry and the black magus, Lord Voldemort, who has killed his parents and who tries to take the power on the wizard's world.

Screen adaptation began in 2001 and will finish in 2011. Six novels have already been adapted. The main actors are Daniel Radcliff, in Harry Potter's main lead, Rupert Grint in Ron Weasley's lead and Emma Watson in Hermione Granger's lead.

The saga  « Americano-British », realised by Warner Bros in Great-Britain, is successful commercialy and culturaly in the world: all the Harry Potter's books have been best-sellers. The sellers are estimated at more than 400 millions of copies in 140 countries. The films have been translated in nearly 70 languages.

Today, a lot of french children and teenagers buy the books in the original languages, in English. The readers curiosity to discover the books into movies, a magic world and a rich mythology, the mixing of reality fantasy, the development phisycal and mental of lovable characters who evolve in their own life at the same time as in the movies, explain such a success.
