Hoollywood is in California, in the suburb to Los Angeles. The most famous boulevard is Sunset Boulevard. The district of stars is Beverly Hills.

Horace and Daeida Wilcox buy land he calls Hollywood ( Wood Cabbage) in 1886. Later a film was shot in Hollywood on their land. Thanks to the wealth of space in Hollywood ( The mild climate, the ability to turn permanently outside, the low price of land), many filmmakers and producters rushed.

David Griffith made the first film. This first film marks the birth of the cinema's industry of Hollywood and he calls « The Squan Man ».

The first studio is « Nestor » and it was made in 1911.

Sennett cast including the English Charlie Chaplin and his character : Charlot ( His cane, his moustache, his melon hat and his inimitable walk made him a world star in less than three years).

Hollywood became the film-making capital in 1914.

In 1927, it is the beginning of sound with «  Jazz Singer ». It is the first « Talkie film ».

In 1935, the colour appears.

It's the Hollywood's Golden Age.

In the 60's, with the increasing popularity of television, Hollywood's Golden Age came to an end. Films began to reflect the social changes of the times : some films criticized American attitudes towards Native Americans, (Little Big Man, 1970) or the US army intervention in Vietnam ( Apocalypse Now, 1979).

Hollywood is again the film capital of the world. He is equal by the French film and Bollywood in India.
